HOW TO GET MOTIVATED WHEN YOU AREN'T MOTIVATED

Exercising can be hard especially when you aren’t motivated. Here are some tips and tricks to get you wanting and keen to do some exercise.

 

  • Using your time wisely, by taking advantage of the free time like study periods, lunchtimes and even before and after school. The school gym is an area that is free space and has a variety of different equipment. So grab a couple of friends and help each other to be motivated.

 

  • If exercise classes are not for you then there are lots of different ways to exercise eg Surfing, walking with your friends or your dog or going for a ride on your bike.

 

  • Basically every day at St Margaret’s there is a free lunchtime fitness class that is open for everyone to join in. The classes offer different types of exercise and range from cardio, strength, toning and even boxing. These are a great opportunity to try different exercises with your friends and to learn from this time. After exercising you automatically feel better and can become apart of your routine at school.  

 

 

  • Having a friend who shares the same interests can help you both get motivated to do exercise. This can be time to get closer and can be seen as an opportunity to chat.

 

  • For people that like to exercise, the enjoyment offers enough motivation itself to keep going . For people that don’t like to exercise it will feel as if you’re putting in a lot of effort without a clear reward, therefore it can be hard to stay motivated. One way to get around this is finding yourself a reward for regulating exercising. It could be as simple as taking time finding some time after your exercise to have some relaxation time, or a small treat at the end of a week if you reach your goal. When finding what motivates you to exercise, this is the key to your success and it could soon then becomes a habit.

It has been proven that exercise helps decrease feelings like anxiety, depression or stress. Doing exercise also speeds up the production of endorphin hormones which are known to produce positive feelings.

 

It is very good for your muscles and bones

Exercise and working out is one of the most important roles in maintaining and building strong muscles and bones. If people do not have strong bones and muscles, they are a lot more prone to injuries and also sicknesses.

 

It increases energy levels

Exercise has been proven to boost energy levels drastically for healthy people and also people that are suffering from types of medical conditions. Regular exercise increases your cardiovascular health and blood flow. It allows more oxygen and blood to get around the body providing you with lots of energy.

 

It can help with your skin

By exercising we increase our blood flow, working out and being active helps to nourish the skin cells and keep them nice and vital. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients throughout the body to working cells, this includes the skin cells.
